Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of 9 domestic software engineers, potentially doubling the staff within the next 12 months (domestic and offshore)
  • Own all aspects of team deliverables (e.g. requirements analysis, task break down and estimation, projects execution, risk mitigation and quality)
  • Provide design guidance and flush out bad design
  • Drive initiatives to improve quality of software, monitor quality of deliverables and work with QA team to define effective test plans and develop test standards for product development lifecycle
  • Lead and build a team that will push the boundaries of what is possible to create better experiences for the customer base

 

Requirements

What you need to be considered as a candidate for this role:

  • 10 or more years of software development experience with at least 2 of those years managing a  team of 8 or more software developers working on a commercial software product
  • Full software development life-cycle experience, with proven track record of shipping software products
  • Strong background in products built in a Unix/Linux OS, Perl, and SQL  environment
  • Knowledge of IP networking  and leading teams that build products that are network-centric
  • Demonstrated ability to build, challenge and retain strong development teams as well as a track record of leading those teams to high degrees of achievement
  • 4 year degree with technical major (e.g. CS, EE, CE, etc)

Job Overview:

My client is seeking a very experienced software developer to act as a dedicated software sustaining engineer. This is a role is one that is considered to be critical to the continued success of the team. You will deal with support cases, debugging, patch coding, solving problems on customer network. Primarily over the phone and on the internet. This is not a QA or a test position, but will be focused on debugging software.  Quite often you may be dealing directly with customers to do root cause analysis.


What background do I need to be considered here?
