<description><![CDATA[Reference Number: 01705029<br />Position Description:<br /><br />The consulting network engineer will be a multifaceted contributor in numerous areas of the company such as Engineering and Development, Product Management, Systems Engineering and Marketing.  The key is that this person know the network engineering domain in depth and NOT be only Cisco centric.  Obviously, Cisco expertise is important, but this person will be dealing with every vendor imaginable.  They will do things like:<br /><br />    * Act as an SME on how the company’s products inter operate with and manage various networking gear, develop processes and work flows around product implementation, and be a thought leader in how the product is currently, and may be, used by the customer to solve problems<br />    * Troubleshoot why the company’s product may have implementation or interoperability issues, work with technical support, software support and sales engineering to pinpoint and solve problems<br />    * Assist in the identification and design of new network management products and features<br />    * Assist marketing in fine tuning go to market messages for specific customers<br /><br />Please note, this position requires a bit of the "visionary", but married with the firm grounding of the realist.  "What can we do?" is important, but it must be grounded by "What makes practical business sense?" and "What will customers really buy and use?"<br /><br />The following skills and experience are required for this position:<br /><br />·         Expert level knowledge of network engineering and troubleshooting along with an understanding of how network management factors into an enterprise’s success<br /><br />·         Have clearly defined opinions (backed by sound reasoning) on how networks should be designed, configured and operated<br /><br />·         Should have deep industry contacts that you can use to pull together a variety of expertise on multiple network related issues.<br /><br />·         Multivendor experience – You need to be comfortable in heterogenous network environments.
